Our history

Kiwetin School is a Headstart to Grade 8 school which officially opened in February of 1992. We have a student population of between 85 to 100 students. Kiwetin School serves the First Nation Population of the Timiskaming First Nation and surrounding area.

Our staff are fortunate to be supported by a very interested, caring community.  We strive to develop a community that values the Seven Grandfather Teachings of Wisdom, Respect, Love, Courage, Honesty, Humility and Truth and fosters responsibility and continues to promote leadership opportunities for our students, parents and teachers.  Our total school community of students, parent, staff and community members value the family feeling of our school and we take pride in our mission, “A culturally caring and respectful learning community that ensures success.”
