The introduction of the Internet has made a vast and amazing amount of information and interconectivity to our children. Along with this comes some real dangers. Your children may be exposed to materials that you find objectionable, be at risk due to contacts, or innocently reveal comprimising personal information.
The best defense is to inform yourself and maintain an awareness of what your child is doing with technology. This includes computers, cell phones, cameras, webcams, and a growing number of handhelds. Place computer screens where you can readily see what they are doing. Also, have your child periodically show you what sort of information that they are keeping on social network sites such as Facbook and Myspace.
