Outdoor Education

We are lucky to be located in a beautiful, forested natural environment, alongside the Ottawa River. Children developing in the outdoors is important, and our classes spend time in nature every day.

Our Outdoor Education Program is a child-centered inspirational learning process that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It's a long-term program supporting play, exploration, and supported risk-taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner-inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

All grades are involved in the Outdoor Education Program.

  • It helps develop physical and social skills.

  • It ties directly into many areas of the curriculum.

  • It helps build confidence and supports mental health.

  • It makes vital cultural connections.

The Outdoor Education Program runs on the belief that every child should have regular, long-term access to the forests and natural environment in their community, which provides them with authentic, engaging, play-based learning opportunities.
